Meet the Team

Tyson Carter

Principal

I’m excited to be the new Principal for Virtual Prep Academy of Oregon. I grew up in Lewiston, ID. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership. I have over 24 years of experience in education, ranging from being a teacher to a Federal Program’s Director and Principal, to eventually the School Improvement Coordinator for the state of Idaho. In my off hours, I virtually mentor new teachers for the College of Southern Idaho. I like being outdoors, camping, biking, traveling. My favorite spot is on the beach in the Caribbean.

Jenny Blackwood

School Operations Manager

I’m delighted to be a part of VPA of Oregon’s founding team! With nearly two decades of professional experience in educational settings, I bring expertise and enthusiasm to the Operations Manager role. Past positions include 1st grade teacher, Literacy Specialist, Curriculum Coordinator & School Partnerships Manager. After School, I practice yoga, float down the Deschutes River, and play with my kitten Moon-pie.

Kendall Elliott

Student Success Coach

I’m Kendall Elliott and I am thrilled to be with Virtual Prep Academy of Oregon! I am a dedicated and passionate Student Success Coach with a strong commitment to empowering students to reach their full potential. I strive to create a supportive and nurturing environment for students to excel academically and personally. I find immense joy in seeing my student’s overcome obstacles, gain confidence, and achieve their goals. Being a part of their journey and celebrating their successes brings a sense of fulfillment like no other. When I am not working, I love spending time with my family on our farm or doing anything outdoors, we love to camp!

Sarah Smith

K-2 Teacher

My name is Sarah Smith, and I am the K-2 teacher at Virtual Prep Academy of Oregon. I have been a teacher for eight years and absolutely love what I do! It is my goal as an educator to ensure that my students have the tools they need to be successful and enjoy their education along the way. In my own time, I love going for walks with my dogs, spending time outdoors and playing games with my family. I’m looking forward to a great year! 

Stephanie Miller

3rd-5th Grade Teacher

My name is Stephanie Miller and I am the teacher for 3rd-5th graders at Virtual Prep Academy of Oregon. I’m on a mission to make learning an unforgettable journey that matches my students interests and learning style. When I’m not teaching, I’m unleashing my creativity through crafting and embarking on exciting travels with my family and our two furry buddies. I can hardly wait to embark on this learning journey right alongside all of you!

Deanne Motz

Middle School English Language Arts and Social Studies Teacher

My name is Deanne Motz, and I am excited to join the Virtual Prep Academy of Oregon team! I am a middle school English Language Arts and Social Studies teacher who enjoys watching students make connections to literature and historical events. I am inspired as students grow academically, socially and emotionally. I enjoy making connections with students and learning from their experiences. When I am not working, I like to swim, watch sporting events, camp, and spend time with family.

Meghan Kendle

Middle School Math and Science Teacher

I am so excited to meet every student who attends my classes here at Virtual Prep Academy of Oregon! I am an enthusiastic, supportive, dedicated, and passionate teacher who strives to empower every student to reach success in my classroom and beyond. I strive to make my classes engaging, enjoyable, and memorable all while learning and growing our big ‘ol brains together! Outside of school, I am an avid world traveler, LEGO builder, paddleboarder, and sports fanatic.

Kelly McGuire-Morris

Special Education Teacher Grades K-8

My name is Kelly McGuire-Morris. I’m delighted to join the Virtual Prep Academy of Oregon team as the Special Education Teacher. I look forward to meeting students and embarking on spectacular learning adventures together. Building confidence, strengthening skills, and having fun are my main goals as a teacher. Some of my favorite things to do are playing tennis, going white water rafting, watching Oregon Duck sports games, and attending cycling workout classes. I look forward to learning together!
